Heartbeat Extension
The Heartbeat extension for Chrome lets you press H on any YouTube video to save a moment to your heartbeat, shows a Heart button that lists your moments, and shows a channel's Channel ID on YouTube. It is free, published by Freedom! Family Limited.
The Heartbeat extension is a free Chrome extension that lets you press H while watching any YouTube video to save that second as a moment on your heartbeat; it also puts a Heart button in Chrome's toolbar that lists your moments, and shows the Channel ID on YouTube channel pages. Its Chrome Web Store listing names it "Heartbeat", published by Freedom! Family Limited; older videos and its address call it "Heartbeat Moments".

What it does
- Press H on YouTube. While any YouTube video plays, the H key saves a moment at that second, "saved for all time on your Heartbeat channel" in the listing's words. How to title and tune it is in How to Make a Moment.
- The Heart button. Clicking the Heart in Chrome's toolbar shows the moments you made, and clicking one jumps the video there.
- Edit in place. A panel on YouTube lets you title a moment, move its start, step a frame at a time and delete it.
- Channel ID. On a YouTube channel's page it shows the channel's ID, which YouTube itself keeps out of view.
- Moments from comments. It lists the timestamps fans left in a video's comments and description as moments you can jump to.
In the features video, two presses of H make two moments, and the Heart shows them, along with the other moments made at the same time.
Install it and pin the Heart
- Open the Chrome Web Store listing, or go to heartbeatmoments.com, which redirects there (checked Nov 7, 2026). The sidebar of h.ki links it too, under More from Heartbeat > Heartbeat extension.
- Click Add to Chrome.
- Open Chrome's puzzle-piece (Extensions) menu and click the pin beside Heartbeat.
Pinning matters: without it, the Heart is hidden inside the puzzle-piece menu. With the pin on, the Heart stays visible at all times.
The launch video makes the same point: "make sure you pin it ... if you don't pin it it'll be hiding in this little menu".
Press H on YouTube
Each press of H on a YouTube video shows the notice "Heartbeat moment saved", and the Heart then lists the new moment. The H key works on youtube.com only with the extension installed; on h.ki the site's own player takes H without it, as George Vanous says in the Apr 26, 2025 "Trivia comes to Heartbeat" video: "for it to work on YouTube, you have to first install the Chrome extension".
In the 1.0 launch video, H made a new moment from the point the video was at, and a moment could then be given a title, a description, tags and a playlist.
See any channel's Channel ID
With the extension installed, a YouTube channel's page shows its Channel ID (the UC... id) so you can select and copy it; without the extension it is not shown. The Aug 29, 2023 video adds that the ID sometimes appears only after a refresh. For the ways YouTube itself offers, see Find a Channel ID on youtube.vi.ki.
Moments from comments and descriptions
The extension takes the timestamps from a video's comments and description and lists them as moments, so a long music video whose track list sits in a comment can be played track by track without scrolling back down. On h.ki the same lists appear in a moment page's source menu as "Imported from YouTube Chapters": From video description, From comment 1, From comment 2 (seen Nov 7, 2026; see Moment Pages).
Privacy and permissions
The listing's privacy section says the extension handles personally identifiable information, web history, user activity and website content, and that this data is not sold or used for purposes unrelated to the extension (Chrome Web Store, read Nov 7, 2026). Heartbeat's own policy is covered in Privacy Policy.
History and names
Freedom! launched it as Heartbeat Moments 1.0 on Aug 18, 2023, its "second product launch this month" after Heartbeat Photos. In that video the Heart opened the website heartbeat.love; today the extension's site is h.ki. The store address still says heartbeat-moments, while the listing's name is "Heartbeat". The full timeline is in History of Heartbeat.
What we think
We think the Channel ID display is the extension's most useful feature for people who never make a moment, since YouTube buries the ID; but it is a side feature, and the youtube.vi.ki page shows ways to get the ID without installing anything. We also think the lack of a listing for other browsers is a real limit: on Nov 7, 2026 h.ki linked only the Chrome Web Store, and we did not test the extension in other Chromium browsers.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Heartbeat extension free?
Yes. The Chrome Web Store listing says it is free.
Why does pressing H on YouTube do nothing?
The extension is probably not installed or not enabled. Pressing H on youtube.com saves a moment only through the extension.
Where is the Heart button?
In Chrome's toolbar after you pin it: open the puzzle-piece menu and click the pin beside Heartbeat.
Is there a Heartbeat app for phones?
None was linked anywhere on h.ki on Nov 7, 2026: not on h.ki/about, in the sidebar or in the footer. On a phone, use h.ki in the browser.
Is there a Firefox or Safari version?
None was linked from h.ki on Nov 7, 2026; the only listing is on the Chrome Web Store.
