Moment Pages

Every Heartbeat moment has its own page at h.ki/mo plus seven characters, with the YouTube video starting at the moment's second, its title and creator, Follow, a favorite heart, Share, comments, and the video's other moments in a docked list on the right.

A Heartbeat moment page is the address of one saved second of a YouTube video, h.ki/mo followed by seven letters and digits (for example h.ki/morxesfsh), and opening it plays that video from the moment's start time, with the moment's title, its creator, Follow, a favorite heart, Share and the video's other moments around it. In the Freedom! video "Save your favorite moments on YouTube" (Jul 13, 2025), George Vanous, who founded Heartbeat, points at the "mo" code in the address bar and says each moment gets its own, so a shared link "will play that moment from that exact start time" for anyone who opens it.

This page describes a moment page as a signed-out visitor saw it on Nov 7, 2026 (h.ki footer "Heartbeat 2.107.59"). Making a moment is covered in How to Make a Moment; sharing one in Share and Loop a Moment.

What the page shows

On the left is the YouTube player, already at the moment's start. Under it come the start time (such as "0:20") and the moment's title, then the creator's avatar, name and follower count with a Follow button, a heart with the number of people who favorited the moment, Share, Save, a theater-mode button ("Enable theater mode (t)") and a three-dot menu whose one item is Copy as viki. Below that is a box with the age of the moment and its comment count ("3 years ago • 0 comments"), the YouTube video's title, a line such as "1K moment views • 11 heartbeats • 0 watching now", and From YouTube, the video's own YouTube description. Comments come last, with "Please sign in to leave a comment" for a visitor.

Heartbeat calls a person's channel a "heartbeat", so "11 heartbeats" counts the people who made moments in that video.

The docked moment list

On the right sits a toolbar: + Moment, previous moment, play or pause, next moment, the current time, back and forward 2 seconds, and back and forward 10 seconds. Under it is the list of moments in the same video, each row with a heart, its start time and its title; a speaker icon marks the one playing. As the video plays on, the highlighted row follows it into the next moment, so a moment page keeps going rather than stopping at the moment's end (most moments have no end time: they are a starting point).

The list's source menu starts on Community, everyone's moments in that video, which George described in "Heartbeat features - No fluff" (Dec 25, 2023) as the way to "look at other people's moments" and copy the ones you like into your own. On Nov 7, 2026 the menu offered:

Group Choices
Yours Favorites, Superfavorites, My moments
Everyone's Community
Playlists in this video Each playlist that includes the video
Imported from YouTube Chapters From video description, From comment 1, From comment 2 (as the video has them)
New New playlist, with a Create button

Sort by orders the list by Popular, Newest or Start time, and More offers Add to my moments, Add to playlist, Copy as viki, Copy as YouTube Chapters, Copy as Heartbeat Moments and a "Show tags" switch. Suggested moments from other videos follow under the list. The imported chapters are explained in Video Pages.

Follow, Like and Save

Follow adds the moment's creator to your feed; George showed that it first asks you to sign in with Google, that the followed person's moments then appear under "heartbeats" with everyone else you follow, and that clicking Follow again unfollows. The sidebar lists them under "Heartbeats I follow" (Home and Sidebar).

The heart is the favorite (Heartbeat's "like"): in the same video a click put the moment in the Favorites tab of "my heartbeat", a second click removed it, and the heart in the list appeared only on hover "to make the interface less busy". Favorites show on your profile (Profiles), and h.ki/how-to-heartbeat asks people to "Click the heart selectively! Only for your truly favorite moments".

Save was the third button on Nov 7, 2026; signed out, its tooltip read "Sign in to make your opinion count." What it saves to was not visible without signing in.

Someone else's moment can be copied: the video shows the three-dot menu's Copy making "an exact duplicate of that moment" that becomes yours to edit. On Nov 7, 2026 the same idea was the list's More > Add to my moments.

What we think

We think the moment page's best trick is the one that is easiest to miss: because the list keeps playing into the next moment, a well-made set of moments turns a long video (a concert, a speech, a match) into a table of contents that anyone can make, where YouTube's own chapters can be made only by the uploader. Its limit is that it is still the full YouTube video: the moment says where to start, not where to stop, so a viewer who wants just the 20 seconds has to pause it themselves (the loop in Share and Loop a Moment is the nearest thing).

Frequently asked questions

What is a Heartbeat moment?

A moment is a saved start time in a YouTube video with a title, made by a Heartbeat user, with its own page at h.ki/mo plus seven characters. Opening it plays the video from that second.

Do I need an account to watch a moment?

No. A signed-out visitor could watch, browse the list and share on Nov 7, 2026. Following, saving, commenting and making moments need a Google sign-in.

Does a view on Heartbeat count on YouTube?

The video is YouTube's own embedded player; h.ki/about says "1 view on Heartbeat is 1 view on YouTube!". YouTube's own rules decide what counts as a view.

Why does the video keep playing after the moment?

Moments mark where something starts, and most have no end time, so the video plays on and the list moves to the next moment of the same video.

What does "heartbeats" mean under the video?

A heartbeat is a person's channel on Heartbeat, so "11 heartbeats" means eleven people made moments in that video.
