Link to an Exact Moment
To link to an exact moment on Heartbeat, save it as a moment and share its address, h.ki/ followed by its nine-character id (such as h.ki/morxesfsh), which opens the video at that start time; for a quick link without saving, add ?t= to a video page.
To link to an exact moment on Heartbeat, save the moment and share its own address: every moment has an id, and h.ki/<id> plays the video "from that exact start time to anyone you share it with", as George Vanous puts it in his Jul 13, 2025 video, pointing at the id in the address bar ("that's our hash for this moment"). The link h.ki/morxesfsh, for example, opens "Heartbeat features - No fluff" at 0:20, the moment where he presses H on YouTube. Unlike a YouTube time link, the moment link carries a title and stays in a list of moments others can find.
Quick facts
| Moment address | h.ki/<id>; moment ids are nine characters starting mo |
| Looping link | h.ki/<id>?play=loop (the share dialog's Loop switch, on by default) |
| Quick time link | h.ki/yo<YouTube id>?t=90s opened a video at 1:30 (Nov 7, 2026) |
| Start precision | Fractions of a second (the API gave 20.594 s for h.ki/morxesfsh) |
| Fine tuning | Nudge 0.1 s or one frame at a time before saving |
| End time | Optional; most moments have none and play on |
| Needs sign-in | To save a moment, yes; to open or share one, no |
How do I link to an exact moment?
- Open the video on Heartbeat (Open a YouTube Video on Heartbeat) or watch it on YouTube with the Heartbeat Extension.
- At the moment you want, click + Moment or press H.
- Nudge the start to the exact frame and give the moment a title (How to Make a Moment).
- Click Share on the moment and copy the link, or copy the address bar, which now reads
h.ki/and the moment's id.
Step 3 is what makes the link exact. In the Jul 13, 2025 video George nudges a moment backwards "0.1 seconds to get the exact start frame where the scene changes", then types its title. A YouTube time link can only say a whole second.
A moment can also end. In a Nov 12, 2023 video George moves a moment's start "a second or backwards a second", then "0.1 seconds or even frame by frame", and adds + End time so the moment stops instead of playing "to the end of the video". Most moments on Heartbeat have no end: in the public API their end_time is empty (Heartbeat Public API).
Sharing the link
In the Dec 25, 2023 features video the share choices are "copy the link or share on Facebook or Twitter". Seen on Nov 7, 2026, the moment page's Share opens "Share a moment" with X, Facebook and Email buttons, the link with Copy, and two switches: Moment title, which puts the title above the link, and Loop, on by default, which adds ?play=loop so the moment repeats (Share and Loop a Moment).
One thing to watch: the dialog shares the moment playing when you open it. A moment page keeps playing into the video's next moments, so if you wait, the link you copy may be for the next one. Pause first.
The person who opens the link sees more than the one moment. As George says in his Sep 14, 2023 video, the shared link "will share this moment along with the first moment and any others" in its list: the page shows the video's other moments beside it, so a friend can carry on to the next highlight.
Quick links without saving
If you only need a time, not a saved moment, a Heartbeat video page takes the same t= as YouTube. On Nov 7, 2026 www.youtube.h.ki/watch?v=Nr2Q9KEiUjQ&t=90s redirected to h.ki/yoNr2Q9KEiUjQ?t=90s, and the video started at 1:30. Such a link has no title and appears in no list, so it is the Heartbeat version of YouTube's Share > Start at (see Vi.ki's YouTube guide Link to an Exact Time).
Moment link or YouTube time link?
| Heartbeat moment link | YouTube time link | |
|---|---|---|
| Address | h.ki/morxesfsh |
youtube.com/watch?v=Nr2Q9KEiUjQ&t=20 |
| Precision | Fractions of a second, frame stepping | Whole seconds |
| Title | Yes, shown on the page and in shares | No |
| End time | Optional | No (embeds take end=) |
| Looping | ?play=loop |
No |
| Found by others | Listed on the video's page, your profile, playlists and vikis | No |
| Editable later | Yes, the same address keeps working | No, a new time means a new link |
| Needs an account | To save it | No |
h.ki/about argues that a timestamp or chapter link breaks when the time changes, while a moment link "still works and opens the correct timestamp". That holds when the moment's owner fixes the start: the address stays the same and the time behind it moves.
We think the moment link is worth the extra step for anything you will share more than once or want to find again, and the plain ?t= link is better for a one-off message, since it needs no account and no title. The moment link's weakness is that it depends on h.ki staying up; a YouTube time link only depends on YouTube.
Frequently asked questions
How do I share a YouTube video at an exact time on Heartbeat?
Save the moment with + Moment or the H key, then share its h.ki/<id> link. Or add ?t= and the seconds to a Heartbeat video page address.
What does ?play=loop do?
It makes the moment repeat. The share dialog adds it when its Loop switch is on, which it is by default.
Can I set a start time more exact than a second?
Yes. Before saving, nudge the start by 0.1 seconds or step one frame at a time.
Will my link break if I change the start time?
No. The moment keeps its address, and the link opens the new start time.
Can someone open my moment link without an account?
Yes. Moment pages open for anyone; only saving, favorites and comments need sign-in.
