Heartbeat Search
Heartbeat's search box opens h.ki/search?q= with matching moments and videos in two blocks, and Filters narrow them by date added (last hour to this year), type (Moment, Video, Heartbeat) and sort (date added, view count, favorite count).
Heartbeat's search is the box at the top of every h.ki page, and it finds moments and the videos they are in; in "❤️ Heartbeat is our future!" (Oct 1, 2024) George Vanous searched "happiness", played the first result, and said "we have a search engine guys, heartbeat is like YouTube". A search's address is h.ki/search?q= followed by the words, so h.ki/search?q=witcher can be typed or shared directly.
This page describes search as a signed-out visitor saw it on Nov 7, 2026 (Heartbeat 2.107.59); searching needs no account.
Quick facts

The results
Results come in two blocks. The first counts the matching moments ("67 moments" for "witcher" on Nov 7, 2026), shows three with their start times, and offers "+64 more"; the second counts videos ("52 videos total"), shows three with each one's number of moments, and offers the rest. Every row is a thumbnail and a title: a moment opens its moment page at its second, a video its video page with all its moments.
The results came with the page itself: we saw no separate request for them, so a search address can be bookmarked like any other page.
Filters
Filters, above the results, has three groups:
| Filter | Choices |
|---|---|
| Date added | Last hour, Today, This week, This month, This year |
| Type | Moment, Video, Heartbeat |
| Sort by | Date added, View count, Favorite count |
"Favorite count" sorts by the hearts people gave a moment, Heartbeat's own measure of what people liked, where "View count" sorts by plays.
Finding people
The Heartbeat type finds people: a heartbeat is a person's channel on Heartbeat (Profiles).
In "Heartbeat features - No fluff" (Dec 25, 2023), George said "to search for someone just type their name in the search box", and the result was his heartbeat with its follower count and Follow button. In an Oct 1, 2023 video he sent viewers to his Arnold Schwarzenegger moments the same way: "search for George", pick his heartbeat (not his test accounts), and play them.
For browsing people rather than searching, Creators lists every heartbeat by followers.
Other ways to find things
- Home chips: the row of topics on the home page (Music, Games, Movies, Diablo 4 and many more) shows the moments tagged with each, at
h.ki/tag/<name>(Home and Sidebar). - Vikis: h.ki/vikis lists every viki, sortable by Last updated, Latest or Title (Vikis).
- A video you already know: open it at
h.ki/yo<YouTube id>(Video Pages). - Search engines: h.ki's sitemaps list its moments, vikis, playlists, creators and tags for Google and Bing; h.ki/how-to-heartbeat says each moment "is its own link indexed by Google".
What we think
We think Heartbeat's search is best used narrowly: it searches titles people wrote, so a well-named moment ("Superman saves the girl") is easy to find and a vague one is not, which is why h.ki/quality puts "Meaningful titles" first in its definition of quality content (Quality Content and Payments). Its "Favorite count" sort is the one YouTube's search has no equivalent of, and on a popular topic it is the quickest way to the moments people actually kept.
Frequently asked questions
How do I search Heartbeat?
Type in the search box at the top of any h.ki page and press Enter, or open h.ki/search?q= followed by your words.
Can I search for a person on Heartbeat?
Yes. Type their name; the Heartbeat type under Filters shows only people's heartbeats.
What does Heartbeat search look through?
Moments and the videos they are in, plus heartbeats (people). The results we saw were all moments and videos already on Heartbeat, not the whole of YouTube.
Do I need to sign in to search?
No. Search and its filters work signed out.
