Predictions
We think Heartbeat's next big steps are vikis that several people can edit and a way to meet people through the moments you share, while phone apps stay missing through 2027.
We think Heartbeat's next years are about people rather than videos: vikis written together, strangers connected by the moments they share, and new kinds of content, while it stays a website and a Chrome extension rather than a phone app.
These are Vi.ki's own predictions and opinions, not reported facts. Each one says what we base it on and when it can be checked. We will mark each one right or wrong when it resolves. Heartbeat is made by Freedom!, whose founder also runs Vi.ki; we hold these to the same standard as every other viki's.
Will vikis on Heartbeat get co-editing?
We think yes: by Dec 2027 a viki can have more than one editor, so a writer can invite others to add moments and text.
Confidence: Possible. Check by: Dec 2027.
Why we think so: co-editing was announced as coming in January 2025 and we saw no sign of it on Nov 7, 2026 (Heartbeat Vikis). A viki is one person's page today, so it goes stale unless its writer keeps it up, which is the problem shared editing solves, and Vi.ki, from the same maker, already lets anyone signed in propose an edit.
What would prove us wrong: every viki still has a single editor at the end of 2027.
Will Heartbeat connect strangers through the moments they share?
We think a "people who saved this moment" feature, showing who else saved the same moment and letting you follow them, appears on moment pages by Dec 2027.
Confidence: Possible. Check by: Dec 2027.
Why we think so: h.ki/about lists a recommendation system "to connect strangers by shared moments" among the features in development and says it "hasn't been released publicly yet". Moment pages already show the video's other moments and a Follow button (Moment Pages), so the pieces are there.
What would prove us wrong: no feature that links people by the moments they saved by the end of 2027.
Will Heartbeat release a phone app?
We think not: there is still no Heartbeat app in the App Store or Google Play at the end of 2027, and the website stays its phone experience.
Confidence: Likely. Check by: Dec 2027.
Why we think so: we found no app listing and no link to one anywhere on h.ki on Nov 7, 2026, three years after launch (Sign-in and Accounts); the work h.ki/about lists as in development is all on the website. The making of moments rests on the Chrome extension and the "replace com with h.ki" trick, both desktop habits.
What would prove us wrong: a Heartbeat app in either store.
What will be the next kind of content on Heartbeat?
We think chess puzzles are next: by Jun 2027 anyone signed in can publish a chess puzzle with its own page, as riddles and trivia have today.
Confidence: Possible. Check by: Jun 2027.
Why we think so: Heartbeat added a new kind of content every few months through 2025, riddles in February, logic puzzles on Apr 1 and trivia on Apr 26 (History of Heartbeat), and h.ki/about names chess puzzles among the new editors in development. h.ki/chess is already one of its most prominent vikis.
What would prove us wrong: no chess puzzle editor by mid-2027, or a different new content type first.
Will Heartbeat's game engine ship a game?
We think the first game built on the Heartbeat Engine is playable on h.ki/fun by Dec 2027.
Confidence: Long shot. Check by: Dec 2027.
Why we think so: h.ki/about lists the Heartbeat Engine, an HTML5 2D multiplayer game engine with "real time save", as in development, and Heartbeat Fun and Tools already hosts small browser games such as Heartkeys. A long shot because an engine is a far bigger build than a new editor.
What would prove us wrong: no game on h.ki that names the Heartbeat Engine by the end of 2027.
Will the Heartbeat extension come to Firefox?
We think a Firefox version of the extension is published by Dec 2027.
Confidence: Long shot. Check by: Dec 2027.
Why we think so: the extension is Chrome's only (Heartbeat Extension); Edge and other Chromium browsers can install Chrome extensions, so Firefox is the one big desktop browser left out. A long shot because the h.ki trick already works in any browser, which lowers the need.
What would prove us wrong: no Heartbeat listing on Firefox Add-ons at the end of 2027.
Will Heartbeat suggest moments for you?
We think Heartbeat adds a button that suggests a title or a start time for a new moment, using a video's chapters, comments or transcript, by Dec 2027.
Confidence: Possible. Check by: Dec 2027.
Why we think so: video pages already import chapters from descriptions and viewers' timestamp comments (Video Pages), and h.ki/about calls using AI to assist "great and encouraged" as long as people edit the result themselves, while banning bots (Quality Content and Payments). A suggestion a person accepts fits both rules.
What would prove us wrong: no suggested titles or start times when making a moment by the end of 2027.
Will "replace com with h.ki" become the main way to make moments?
We think by Dec 2027 Heartbeat's own guides put the "replace com with h.ki" trick first, ahead of the extension, as the way to make a moment.
Confidence: Possible. Check by: Dec 2027.
Why we think so: it needs nothing installed and works in any browser and on phones' browsers, and Heartbeat's Jul 13, 2025 video already leads with it (Open a YouTube Video on Heartbeat); the extension, Chrome only, came first in 2023 (History of Heartbeat).
What would prove us wrong: h.ki/how-to-heartbeat still starts with installing the extension at the end of 2027.
Our take
We think Heartbeat's best idea is the moment itself: a title and a start time on a page of its own turns the second that matters in a long video into something you can find, link and collect, which neither YouTube's chapters (the uploader's alone) nor its Clips (a short loop) do (Heartbeat vs YouTube Clips).
We think its weakest point is discovery. Heartbeat has many kinds of content, moments, vikis, photos, riddles, trivia, tools and games, and a newcomer meets all of them at once on the home page; we think it would grow faster if it led with moments and vikis and let the rest be found.
We think the vikis are underrated. A viki answers a question with the exact seconds of video that show the answer, which is what people search for, and it is the format Vi.ki was built from.
Frequently asked questions
Will Heartbeat get a phone app?
We think not before 2028; as of Nov 7, 2026 there is no app listing, and h.ki works in a phone's browser.
What is Heartbeat working on?
h.ki/about lists the Heartbeat Engine, new editors (3D sets, logic puzzles, chess puzzles, games), a real-time rearchitecture and a recommendation system to connect strangers by shared moments. Which comes first is our guess above.
Is Heartbeat worth using?
We think yes if you collect or share moments of YouTube videos: it is free, the "replace com with h.ki" trick needs nothing installed, and a moment's page is easier to share than a timestamp link.
